The money!

money Jan 15, 2020

When I start to talk about treating with a minimally invasive approach, colleagues always ask; "Can you make money on doing less?"

Well - actually I can. And so can you!
The key here is, what does it mean TO DO LESS?
Its not about not treating - its about treating in another way.

The most expensive solutions for treating teeth are not the most healthy ones!
Do you agree?
Do you want a full crown on one of your teeth?

I don´t.
I would go for a crown-lay and preserve all the cervical tooth structure. Because I know it will be easier to maintain.

What Im trying to say is;  When we decide what treatment we offer the patient, we too place the tooth somewhere in the circle of death of teeth!

More treatment on a tooth means higher risk of complications and eventually the loss of the tooth. Will you make good money on patients with no teeth? Probably not. It wont be all of them who can afford implants etc... And you might even not make implants. Then its down to removables - how often do you renew those?

I tell you. The money and the branding is in preserving and protecting the teeth of your customers.

Its about excellent diagnostics, great communication, its about composites, indirect ceramics, occlusion, orthodontics, splints, bleaching, veneers, hygiene programs and great follow-ups. (The absolutely last choices should be full cover crowns, bridges, implants and prostheses)

And it´s all about choosing the least invasive solution for a problem - but prizing it correctly.

If you, on behalf of your teeth, could choose between paying for great health or paying for a place in the circle of death, I guess you wouldn´t be in doubt!

I believe and I see that most of our customers/patients are just like me/you - when I make that point to them.

How can you change your everyday dentistry to be less invasive at a greater prize?

It´s not going to happen over night!
And thats OK.
You have to exercise and you have to build knowledge, skills and courage
And you have to be patient with yourself.

THIS IS A JOURNEY.

I know - cause Im traveling myself.
And it´s never ending, just expanding - and that feels awesome.

So come along.... I´ll guide you.
